Defining events to watch

This procedure describes how to create events to watch so that Control-M for SAP can detect when the specified event occurs and what action to take, such as, running a job, or adding or deleting a condition to the active conditions.

NOTE: These rules are independent of an SAP client and therefore only one account per SAP system should be used in the rules definitions.

To define events to watch:

  1. From the CCM, right-click the Control-M for SAP component on the host that you want to manage, and select Event Watcher Management.

The Event Watcher Management dialog box appears.

  2. In the Activate Event Watcher field, select On.
  3. In the SAP Connection Profile field, select the connection profile where the events need to be watched.
  4. Click Add in the Watch for the following events area.

The Add Event dialog box appears.

  5. In the Event ID field, type the name of the SAP background processing event or click Load.

(Load only) The Event ID dialog box appears.

NOTE: Use % wildcard to filter the events list. If you type the name, the Event ID must begin with a letter and without any blanks or special characters.

  6. (Load only) Select the SAP event and either double click or click OK.

The event ID is copied into the Event ID field.

  7. In the Parameter field, enter the event parameter, for example, entering the * wildcard watches for all events of the type specified. This field can also be left blank, since this parameter value is optional in SAP.
  8. Click OK.

Control-M for SAP event IDs and parameters are defined.

  9. Repeat this procedure for all required events.
