Prioritizing SAP job types for detection

This procedure describes how to set the priority level of SAP job types, which enables Control-M for SAP to handle jobs that match more than one job type. Extracted jobs cannot have a priority that is higher than Intercepted or Spawned jobs.

To prioritize SAP job types for detection:

  1. From Control-M Configuration Manager, select Control-M for SAP on the host that you want to manage, and right-click Extractor Management.

The Control-M for SAP Extractor Management dialog box appears.

  2. In the General Configuration area, for each job type field, select the required priority from the drop-down menu. You can also select not to have a job type detected (default) or you can set first, second, or third priority for each job type.

NOTE: To detect Spawned jobs you need to define an SAP R/3 or SAP Process Chain job, as described in Job definition. If Intercepted Jobs is assigned a priority, ensure that at least one CTM Interception Rule is selected.

  3. Select the Activity Log field to enable Extractor Management activities to be logged. Default: On

The activity log is saved in the Control-M/Agent proclog directory with the name: xt_log_<YYMMDD>

  4. In the Interval Time field, enter the required number of seconds between loop cycles of the Extractor. Default: 120 seconds
  5. In the Extractor alert settings field, select the check box to enable Control-M for SAP to check if the Extractor process is running.

NOTE: You receive an alert in Control-M alerts window in case the Extractor process stops unexpectedly. You can select the severity alert and the interval time.

    Default: Alert Severity: Regular

    Interval Time: 5 minutes.

  6. Either click Apply (to continue configuring parameters) or click OK.

The general Extractor Management parameters are configured.
