When you define a Process Chain in the SAP BW system, verify that Start Using Meta Chain or API as the start condition for the trigger process (Start Process) of the Process Chain. If you do not do this, the job fails in Control-M. You can access this parameter from the SAP transaction RSPC by right-clicking the Trigger process and select Maintain Variant.
To define a Process Chain job:
From the Connection Profile field, click .
The Connection ProfileSelection dialog box appears.
Select the connection profile that you want to use to run a process chain job, and click OK.
From the Process Type drop-down list, select Process Chain.
From the Process Chain Characteristics area, in the Select Process Chain field, click Select.
The Select Process Chain dialog box appears.
Click Load.
Select the required Process Chain, and then click OK.
Click OK.
The Description and ID fields are populated.
From the ReRun Options drop-down list, select one of the following:
Restart from point of failure
Rerun from start
Click SAP - More and select one or more of the following:
Enable Periodic Job: Determines whether the first run of the Process Chain prepares for the next run and is useful for reruns when big Process Chains are scheduled.
Consider only the overall chain status: Determines whether to view the status of the overall Process Chain.
Retrieve Log: Determines whether to add the Process Chain logs to the job output.
To detect spawned jobs, select the checkbox and add parameters as required, as described in Detect Spawned Jobs.
NOTE: To detect jobs, you need to ensure the following:
The Parent/Child function is enabled in your SAP system
Assign a priority in the Control-M for SAP Extractor Management window, as described in Extractor Management.
