This procedure describes how to create a SAP connection profile in the Control-M Configuration Manager, which enables you to define a SAP job in Control-M.
If you plan on using Secured Network Communication, verify that you have installed
- From the CCM, right-click the Control-M for SAP component on the host that you want to manage, and select Connection Profile Management.
The Control-M for SAP -Connection Profile Management dialog box appears.
- Click
.The Step 1: Set Logon Type dialog box appears.
- In the Connection Profile Name field, type the name of the connection profile that you want to add. The connection profile name must begin with a letter and without any blanks or special characters.
- In the Choose Logon Type field, select one of the following logon types:
- Specific Application Server: Defines a connection profile using a direct connection.
- Group: Defines a connection profile using a logon group connection.
- To use Secured Network Communication (SNC) for this connection profile, select the Activate Secured Network Communication check box.

- Click Next.
The Step 2: Set Connection Details dialog box appears.
- Do one of the following:
- If Specific Application Server was selected, set the fields in the Step 2: Set Connection Details dialog box for a specific application server, as described in Set Connection details parameters for specific application server.
- If Group was selected, do the following:
- Set the fields in the Step 2: Set Connection Details dialog box for a group, as described in Set Connection details parameters for group.
- If you are using log on groups, go to the services file that are found in the following folders:
UNIX: /etc/
Windows: <system drive>:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc
- Add a new line to the services file on the computer where Control-M/Agent is running, as follows:
sapms<SID> 36<SYSNR>/tcp
SID represents the System ID, and SYSNR represents the System number of the computer on which the SAP Message Server is running. The following is an example of the new line:
sapmsDEV 3619/tcp
- Add this new line for each System ID for which you defined a logon group. For more information about Logon Groups and also load balancing, see solution 000134908 in the Knowledge Base on the Customer Support website, located at http://www.bmc.com/support.
- Click Next.
If the Activate Secured Network Communication was selected, the Step 2a: Set Secured network Connection Details dialog box appears, otherwise the Step 3: Advanced Options dialog box appears.
- Do the following:
- If the Activate Secured Network Communication was selected in step 5, set the fields in the Step 2a: Set Secured network Connection Details dialog box, as described in Set Secured Network Connection details parameters.
The Step 3: Advanced Options dialog box appears.
- Set the fields in the Step 3: Advanced Options dialog box, as described in Advanced Options parameters.
The Step 4: Summary dialog box appears.
- Review the connection profile details, and click Test.
If the test completes successfully, the connection profile is validated and you can now define a SAP job, as described in Job definition. If the test failed, review the error message and test it again.
- Click Finish.
The connection profile is added to the Control-M for SAP -Connection Profile Management dialog box.
