Control-M for SAP version 8.0.00 works integrally with the XBP interface and supports XBP 1.0, XBP 2.0 and XBP 3.0. XBP 2.0 was created by SAP to work with external scheduling applications and it replaces and upgrades functionality previously provided by the Control-M FMs in earlier versions of Control-M for SAP. These improvements are also supported in XBP 3.0.
Control-M FMs are Control-M for SAP specific APIs that enhance the functionality of SAP. Control-M FMs, perform tasks that are not provided by the SAP standard BAPIs. To install Control-M FMs, see Installing the Control-M Function Modules in a non Unicode SAP system and Installing the Control-M Function Modules in a Unicode SAP system.
To work with Control-M for SAP XBP functionality, you must set the value of the XBP Version account parameter to the required version. To verify whether your SAP system includes the XBP interface, see XBP Version in Set Connection details parameters for specific application server.
For the major differences in actions performed with XBP 1.0, XBP 2.0, XBP 3.0 and Control-M FMs see Differences between XBP BAPIs and Control-M Function Modules.
For the differences between SAP Business Warehouse and Control-M Function modules see Differences between SAP Business Warehouse and Control-M Function Modules.
If, to perform a specific action, either XBP BAPIs or Control-M FMs can be used, Control-M always uses XBP BAPIs. For example, if you want to copy a variant on an SAP system with XBP 1.0 installed, Control-M FMs must be installed. However, if your SAP system has XBP 2.0 or later installed and the account is configured with this XBP version, the variant is copied using the XBP BAPIs.
